Different Techniques Of Birth Control In Waco TX

By Kevin Moore

The first thing that hits majority of parents when they get married is the question of when they can become parents. For some couples it is a simple choice but for others it could be baffling. Contraception helps in the control of pregnancy until such a time that those involved are ready. Birth control methods make use of different modes to prevent pregnancies. For people that are considering birth control in Waco TX, there are different options available.

Natural family planning is one of the oldest techniques that are used. This involves periodic abstinence from sexual intercourse during the days when a woman is fertile. These are usually approximately twelfth to the twentieth day of the menstrual cycle. In this method, day 1 is usually the first day of the periods. In order for the method to work effectively, it requires a lot of commitment and planning.

Withdrawal is also classified as a natural method of birth control. The man will try to pull out before ejaculation during sexual intercourse. There is however the risk that during pre ejaculation, semen might contain sperms that might have leaked before the person ejaculates, leading to possibility of pregnancy. The other option are barrier methods which include condoms, cervical caps and contraceptive sponges. Barrier techniques work through prevention of sperms from getting to the uterus.

Male condoms are bought from ordinary shops and also from drug stores. Despite the fact that they are very affordable, they are only to be used once. For the female condom, insertion is supposed to be done 24 hours prior to intercourse. When the diaphragm or cervical cap are to be used, there will need to be intervention of a doctor so that it is fitted into the body. These are used for women. The use of these options will however increase possibility of contracting urinary tract infections. Also, some women are allergic to them.

There is the option of using oral contraception in which women take pills which have progestin and estrogen. The pills work by ensuring there is no ovulation. Some mini pills contain the hormone progestin. The pill makes cervical walls thick with mucus, meaning sperms are prevented from reaching eggs. Further, they prevent implantation of eggs that have been fertilized.

Hormone injections work in the same way as pills. They are able to prevent pregnancies for three months or more but should not be taken for two years in a row since they are believed to cause loss of bone density on a temporary basis. Some women will also prefer to use the hormonal birth control patch. It is applied to the abdomen, buttocks or outer arms. It will release hormones into the bloodstream.

There are permanent techniques that include surgery. It could be tubal sterilization and vasectomy. In the case of vasectomy, the vas deferens of the man will be cut off to ensure there is no passage of sperms. Tubal ligation can be performed on women and involves tying off the tubes to prevent egg release.

Emergency contraception is an option as well. It is used after one has unprotected sex. It includes the morning after pill and the IUD.
